Dear Dick -
Am sorry to be so long in answering your letters to Nana and to me — they were both enjoyed and appreciated. I delayed answering them because I was waiting for my phone bill, which came yesterday. Thanks for sending the $3.00 for your call to Worthington, however, the cost was 98 cents, so I am returning $2.00 with my thanks.
I can't begin to tell you how happy I was to renew our friendship during yours and Dan's time here with us. I am sorry I was a partial invalid. That cast was a painful

monster — almost more than I could bear at times. I am glad to tell you it was removed Dec. 31st and revealed an entire black and blue arm, so another cast was not put on.
I am gradually regaining the use of my arm — even to driving my car a little. My friends were wonderful, but it is good to be independent again.
Nana is fine and now that I can drive, I'll spend more time with her. The shelves the three of u took to her are and Nana is delighted with them. The do add much to her room. You always held a special place in Nana's heart and she was so happy to see you. How I wish we all lived nearer each other, especially you and Dan. You really need each other. I certainly hope some thing can be worked out. Dan's teaching has

been a life-saver, but he misses Aletha so desperately. To know her was to love her — she gave so much, even though her health was not good.
She and Dan made great contributions to the Miami area — each in their own way. I miss her beyond words. I am deeply grateful for the brother - sister relationship Dan and I have. I know I can always depend on him, in case of need.
Thanks for all the "fixing" jobs you did while here — you have a gift for it. I have no idea how old the clock is. I'll get a new one soon. My neighbor, Elinor Ballard hasn't returned yet, but she too will appreciate what you did in her apartment.
My love and all good wishes for 1980 and I hope we can all get together again soon.
{Eva}
