Context

Lingayen Pangasinan Sept. 24 '29 My Own Precious Sister, Greetings for your Birthday! I trust this my be the happiest birthday you have ever had — I hope your children can come Home and spend it with [End of Page 1] you — at least, Paul, James & Richard. I trust you are all fixed up nicely in your new President's Mansion — how my heart rejoices for you — I am as happy for you as if it were my very own. God surely does care for His children and look after His own! May His richest blessings rest upon you this day and all the remaining days of your dear, dear Life. My sisters and brothers grow dearer to me as life goes on and I rejoice with them in their happiness and weep with them in their sorrows. We all have our own peculiar trials and I believe by sharing [End of Page 2] them with each other they are made a little lighter for we all know there is "so much understanding through Love." A good letter from Ida says they observe their Golden Wedding Anniversary Jan. 1st 1930 — lets all remember them with cards & letters — can you notify Joe's people, I'll notify the Lamberts. Heavy work awaited us here but cheerful co-workers make it all a joy. Our boys will miss you very sorely in Westerville — your house was like a haven of rest & comfort to them. We are well & working hard at new gym, [End of Page 3] last we heard — I'm asking Bertha Charles to come up for her birthday on Oct. 16 — so, on your birthday, we'll be observing yours & hers together here. Love from Oscar to Joe & you. Lovingly, {Carrie}
