Dear Dick:-
Just to be sure you will be with us, we are inviting you in advance for the Christmas Holidays. We hope you can make it. Come as soon as you can and stay as long as you like. Caroline is planning to cook up a storm so there'11 be lots of good food,
I am thinking of getting Jimmy a train -- probably a Lionel since they are sturdy. He likes the kind that emits the smoke (steam type). I want to lay out the track on some plywood and gradually add things he will need. If you get hold of a Lionel catalogue of this year, look it over and give me your ideas. The H-0 would be too delicate for him to handle now.
Thank you for notifying me about Aunt Maude -- and also for getting the flowers. I enclose a check for $3.00 as my share. If it is more, please let me know and I will send more.
We had a great streak of luck. I happen to mention to a dentist here at a dinner meeting that Suzie was looking for a flute. He mentioned one his daughter used to play, but does not use any more, I told him of my interest especially since it was a Haynes sterling silver. He called me a few days later and said he would sell it to ME for $50.00. So we have it and Mr. Bishop says it is a real beauty and Suzie is quite thrilled with it and working hard.
The Choir School Seniors gave me a gift check last June so I bought a Kodak DUOFLEX IV flash camera. I am really enjoying informal shots around the house.
How is your school work going? Please write soon and tell us about yourself. We are always interested. Had a nice letter from Dan. Our Choirmothers Guild may sponsor him in a lecture recital here in the Spring. Jimmy is getting heavier, taller and quite husky. Suzie never has to be told to practice. Hope some day we can send her to Oberlin — she is really talented for public school music work, I'd say. Diane is practice teaching English in a school here-- nearly all Negro children and she's getting quite a kick out of it.
We all send our love, and hoping to see you for a grand time at Christmas!
Jim
Am sending you a booklet on Railroads which I got at the Fair.
