Mr. J. H. Harris,
Athens O.
Esteemed Friend:-- I take this opportunity of answering your welcome letter which was rec'd a few days ago.
I have been at Selby's for the past two weeks and as your letter was sent to Plantsville I did not get it for some time after it was written, so you will please pardon apparent delay. I have been practicing in the kitchen and presume I have got to be quite an accomplished cook? This has seemed like a strange Sunday to me, it was so rainy this morning that we did not go to church.
Situated as we were with a hill on either side, and the rain coming down between it might have been a dreary looking sight had I been inclined to make it so but I chose rather to make the best of it and spent quite a pleasant day.
One week ago tonight we met at Hermon and organized a Y.P.C.U. with twenty-five members. I was so much pleased to see the people here so much interested in such work, and believe our society will prove a success.
My school begins tomorrow. About 7-30 A.M. you might see me trudging my way over my old path which is almost overgrown with weeds, but I presume it will look natural in a week or two. I have been a little anxious for school to begin that I might become settled in my work once more. Nine weeks has seemed like a long time to be doing nothing of importance.
Last week Ottie, Sam & Eva visited our folks at Westerville. It almost made me homesick but I stayed and kept house and did not cry at all.
I hope to see you before going to Ada if it is convenient for you. I expect to be at Alva's now for some time at least so if you can not send me word you will know where to find me.
I will close hoping to see you soon, and May the Lord lead you in pleasant paths. Your Friend.
Bertha E. Lambert
