Ada, O
My Dear Joe: — Your very welcome letter was rec'd Mon. Very eagerly I read its contents and have been pondering them in my mind ever since.
I have not words to express my thanks for the interest you manifest in such an insignificant creature as I, but I surely appreciate such kindness.
I accept the kind invitation provided I can make proper arrangements with my classes, which I think I can without any trouble. The class looked rather suspicious last night when I asked if we could meet an hour early the night of the lecture Aug. 22, instead of Fri. night. But they seemed to think it possible.
With your letter I rec'd one from Miss Chandler who is still at Ada. She invited me to visit her while there so I will just kill two birds with one stone. I also write to her this morning to know if it will be convenient for me to come at that time. She rooms at the McClelland House just east of Heller's.
If I should have to come through on Fri. night is there any other train leaves Crestline later than 11:40 that I could come on, and do you know what time I can leave Crestline in the day-time? I will come on Fri. if I can change my class but if I can not John will take me to Galion (after the class) and I will come through at night. Please do not let me make you any trouble, for I w'd much rather not come than do that, I think of visiting Mrs. Oaks over Sun. I will write no more as I am hurried.
Lovingly — Bertha Lambert.
N.B. I told Miss Chandler that I w'd tell you to see that she had a “fellow” on the excursion, for I want her to go if possible. I fear you will conclude I am more bother than I am worth — B.E.L.
