My Darling Jos. — This lovely Sabbath finds me well and enjoying life as well as could be expected this warm day. I rec'd your letter yesterday at noon. I was so glad to hear from you.
I fear you have caught my disease, homesickness? I have never been away from home when I witnessed so much loneliness, and yet I have found friends every place I have been, and every one has used me so kindly. I have just missed you so much I hardly knew how to get along. But we are not very brave missionaries if we can not get along awhile surrounded with so many blessings and opportunities. We must cheer up and have more trust and faith in God. I do not believe that he will forsake us and these trials may be just what we need to fit and prepare us for life.
However I know canvassing is not very easy work this kind of weather. I have not been doing anything at it since I left Galion. I expect to go to Cardington and work a little around here. That is all I shall try to do until my concert is over. It will take a great deal of time to get ready for it.
Mr. Mayne wants me to go to Caladonia with him this evening and help in the singing so I will ask to be excused for a time (how I wish it were you in John's place).
Mon. 1:30 P.M. Here I am again. I went to Caladonia and enjoyed a pleasant evening. There was no church service as “The Bells Quartette gave a temperance meeting in the hall. This is the warmest weather I ever saw. I had intended to go to Cardington tomorrow morning but I do not know what about if the weather remains so warm. Next Thur. we have a grand S.S. rally and picnic. About twenty schools are invited.
I have wondered where you are spending the Sabbath. I hope you are enjoying it some place. I am so thankful that we can take Christ with us wherever we go.
I too rec'd a letter from the headquarters of the Volunteer Movement. I hope you can enter school at the opening but if not we will not worry about it. I expect to enter then if nothing prevents.
I am still Your true and loving one,
Bertha Lambert.
