Context

5361 Perk Ave. Bethel Park, Pa. 15102 3/18/'77 Dear Bette: Congratulations on your new grand child. I hope your daughter gets well soon. My little grand children have been having type B flu and Estella is having quite a time taking care of them and getting them back in school. They live s 93 W 23 155 River Oaks Drive, Big Bend, Wis 53103.This is in a beautiful new addition outside the little town of Big Bend which is on the Fox River. He bot the house there with an acre of ground because he got more for his money than a place in Waukesha where he works, which is 11 miles away. So far the schools have been quite adequate. Estella takes a big interest in the schools and that helps. Our little Richard will be 9 April 24th. He is a handsome little fellow. They all have blue eyes. Stephen is blond with blue eyes and was 7 in December. He is in first grade and Richard is in 3d. The baby Dana is just 3. I have spent 2 weeks visiting a friend in California and I had a great time. She lives in Claremont a college town 30 miles from L.A. Natalie's home address: Mrs James Schmick Beech Knoll Terrace Retirement Home 6552 Hamilton Ave. Cincinnati 45224 I guess you know that she is at Ft Myers in Florida but I don't have her this year address. She says she lives in a condominium. She wanted me to go there with her but I declined saying I had to go to California this winter. Also I want to be on an even basis with her and she wanted to give me the place to stay and food etc. I felt then that I would be just a housekeeper and I did not want it that way. She can't see very well, having had several operations or at least one on her eyes. I don't feel well enough to be a housekeeper as I have trouble carrying anything from the grocery as I do not have a car. I guess I told you my sister's address in Florida. She wants to look you up. I gave her your address. She is also looking up Dan Harris a first cousin. Mrs L. B. Webner 729 W. Egret Circle Barefoot Boy Park Sebastian, Florida 32958 They live in a trailer which they rent. They say it is warm there now. Leroy plays some golf but Lucile cant play any more because of arthritis in her shoulders. They go home April 1st. Dan Harris supposedly has those letters from the 1930s and I will give you his address. So far he has not found them yet. Daniel Alfred Harris 5840 S.W. 48th St. Miami, Florida 35155 661- 0465 I have some more materiel put away about my grandmother Deborah Vernon Embree Lambert's family but I will try to find it today. You would not be interested in that anyhow. Her father came from a large family of Embrees in Chester County near Philadelphia, Her mother was Mary Ann Vernon from Georgia. They met in Ohio. Lucile has things pretty well mixed up. She spoke of our grandmother Cynthia Embree. Cynthia Embree was grandma Lambert's niece. She never married....ran a school for girls down south. Her father was grandma's brother Robert. Today I am so tired and I had to get started somehow. So I decided to write to you. Marie Lambert does want to know about the family way back. She knows nothing. She has a lot of material about her own generation and those who came after. Her brothers are all dead and she seems to be a favorite of her nieces and nephews. They gave her a typewriter and other things. [End of Page 1] You don't say anything about your husband but I suppose he cooperates in your genealogy work. If we would gather all the facts about the present generations we would indeed have a lot of material. Lucile has 2 children and 10 grand children and one grand child a girl is getting married July 2nd. She is only 22. Charles has no children. I have one son and the children I told you about. My daughter in Law was a Carter from Birmingham Ala. Estella Carter was her name. She is 10 years younger than my son Bill. Charles and Bernice have been sick. First Charles was in the hospital for a week with a touch of heart trouble. He had open heart surgery this winter. Now Bernice is in with arthritis. I called them and talked to Charles this week. They love their great nieces and nephews. They have no children of their own. Natalie has 2 daughters and one lives in Cincinnati but she quarrels with her son in law. The other girl lives in Zanesville and she gets along with her. How many children do you have? How is your father? Your cousin David Ewing does not seem to have anything to do with our branch of the family. Is he still the brother in law of Gov. Rhodes? Mayme and Jeanette were so close to us. Janette was so good.... and so intelligent. It was a shame she died of cancer. Did you get the Stantons straightened out? As I remember the first in N.C. was the first Henry. He was a Hicksite Quaker and he lived at Beaufort, N.C. and built ships. There were many wrecks there. Then came Henry the 2nd. Our Stanton was ....... and then Great Grandma Elizabeth Stanton b. 1898 and her husband Abner b. 1890. The Stantons were about to be very rich in N.C. but they came north because they were convinced by Quaker preachers that slavery was wrong. They freed all their slaves and saw that they got to West Indies, took them with them or sent them to Canada. That cost them a mint of money. They did not set than free in N.C. because the state would pick them up and resell them. Today our beliefs do not lead us to do such radical things as move in a body to Ohio. Well I must go now. Love, {Pauline}
