Dear Paul J. —
A bushel of good wishes for you and those who are dear to you! May you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
The past year has been very eventful for your old Uncle Dan, who turned 85 in May, and is still surviving, believe it or not, after that surprise birthday party, with about seventy-five guests. What a bash! Two people came from California, and others from South Carolina and Georgia.
As a result a scholarship fund has been set up at the University of Miami School of Music, to which I have also added my bit. My sincere thanks to all who contributed to the cause.
Life goes on, and I continue to teach here at the house. I am really very fortunate to have such talented and delightful people to work with.
I hope 1988 has been kind to you, and that 1989 will be even better.
