Dear Paul,
We have a little old paper booklet of family records which belonged to Matilda Monroe. It has Lambert and Pickering records in it. I have asked the Ohio relatives (when there were still some to ask) who Matilda was but nobody seemed to know. Lu Williams, who is an astute researcher and has much information on her line - the line of Albert Jr., found Matilda named in Daniel Lambert's will, 1842. He left money at interest to Matilda Monroe for her lifetime - also a horse to John Monroe. When Matilda and John married I believe she was under age and Elias Pickering gave the consent for her to marry. She was listed as living in Warren Twp OH at the time. She is mentioned in the old letters from Elizabeth Stanton Lambert and others. Will be interested to know what conclusions you come to.
Reece & Lydia Lambert received a Civil War letter from Abner Lee Monroe too. The money left at interest for Matilda was paid off to other family members, as stated in the will, 21 March 1861 so she must have died shortly before that.
