My Darling Joe: — This seems a little more like talking when I can hear from you and answer the same day. That “Good morning” you added this morning did me lots of good. I am glad to know your finger is still improving and hope in a few days you can resume your work, but do not go to work too soon.
This morning I concluded I would be as smart as other people so I got up at 4:30 (something unusual for me) and had my washing done before it got very warm. We are getting along just fine keeping house; really I am just falling in love with housework (do you care?). I will try and not let it detract my love from you. Ira seems better this week and I believe will get better now.
Tues. Morning — I stop my ironing a little while to finish my letter. This is one of the warmest mornings I ever saw.
Your letter did me so much good last evening, you begin to seem more like yourself again. I hope you did not think I was scolding in my last letter, I did not mean it that way. This is such warm weather for you to work I want you to be careful. I suppose father & mother are at Sam's or Alva's today having a fine visit.
I will write later and speak of school work and such things as I am hurried this morning. I do not believe your dream was so very much out of reason do you?
Indeed I see so many beauties in your life that are lacking in mine, I want you to think more of my Joe.
Now please excuse haste and pencil and I will do better soon.
May God bless you and keep you.
Your devoted Sweetheart
Bertha Lambert.
