[Ada, OH, to Miss Bertha Lambert, Westerville, Ohio, “Franklin Co.”]
Ada, O. Dec 17, 1895.
Miss Lambert,
Westerville, O.
My Darling Bertha: Your letter just received makes me glad and in reply let me say that the teachers have very kindly consented to arrange my exams. for today and tomorrow, so I shall leave here Thursday morning and will arrive at Col 10:40 where it will be necessary to make one or two calls before reaching you. I wish I might be able to tell you just what time to look for me, but do not miss any of your work and I will be with you as soon as possible.
I can scarcely wait for Thursday to come for then I shall see my better part for which my soul has been longing for three months.
Do I think her selfish? No more than I wish her to be. Surely she deserves the best and I could not be content not to grant to her the best of my time, all my love and whatever else I may possess. I wish we might spend a wk. together.
May God keep my sweetheart until we meet.
Devotedly,
J. H. Harris.
I wish to go to Athens Friday. J.H.H.
