Dear Uncle Dan,
Just got back and received your note. Thank you for sending along Dan's address as I neglected to get it from you before Helen and I left on the twenty-fourth. All Helen and I talked about on the way back to Naples was how much we enjoyed our brief
visit with you and what a story there is in the history of this family.
I am sending along the three corrected pages from Grandpap's Chair. I would appreciate it if you would replace the ones in your copy with these corrections to make the booklet worthy of your brother, James. I am delighted that you are enjoying the publications that I left with you.
The book you gave me when I was there is titled The Student Missionary Appeal, Addresses at the Third International Convention of the Student Volunteer Movement for Foreign Missions, Held at Cleveland, Ohio, February 23-27, 1898. This sounded somewhat familiar to me so when I got home I checked your parents‘ correspondence at that time and have found a letter your mother wrote while attending that conference as well as a letter written by your father on the same day which apparently did not reach her before leaving Cleveland as it was returned unclaimed. Enclosed is a transcript of each of these letters. It is so much more meaningful to be able to put the pieces of the puzzle together and associate that book with specific experiences of someone in our family. Thank you for all of your help.
Dan, the other thing we forgot to go over before I left was the issue of your mother's name with Otterbein University Alumni records. If you can give me just a little bit of specific information regarding the publications that are in error or names of anyone you have written to or talked with, I'm sure I can help straighten things out. As you know, no one is more dedicated to establishing an accurate record of our family's history than I am. Please let me hear from you when you can gather some information on this subject and I will do whatever is necessary to set the record straight.
Sincerely
Paul
