Aug 12/32 Dearest Cousin Oscar and Carrie As the days begin to lengthen and the scenes of other years come arounding there […] and I fancy I can see them dress […] of boyhood days when we were boys together how we counted […] first from for the opening of the chestnut bures. The gathering of the apples and storing them in bins to be used during the cold winter days. The big kettles of apples and peach butter, […] pear and the qui[…]. By the way do you remember the husking bee they had at your place on the f[…]elf to the East? It was in October. The room was full and bright as day and is the shocks of corn melted away so rapidly under the swift hands of the huskers and then after that the big supper with its roast [chicken] sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie with games that followed. Ah what a beautiful and happy scene and [...] Sometimes I think and guess is nearly true there was never a happier people than we with our uncles aunts and cousins for […] around and […] that wonderful harmony always pr[…]. Who ever heard of a Lambert fuss or quarrel. Of course there were differences of opinion but always a love that bound us to each other. As I now look back thru the dim mists of years I am truly thankful for such […] I am so delighted that you and sister I […] taking up the history of the Lamberts and getting it condensed and ready to hand down to further generations. We are planning on a big Lambert picnic here at Ft. Wayne on Labor day, Sept 7th do so wish you and Carrie were able to come. This is for the Lamberts in general. We will have it in our grove at the edge of the city or possibly in the city Park which is one of the most beautiful spots in the city. A rose garden in the Park as Is one of the prettiest spots in this or any other city. Over 400 different varieties of roses, water lilies, color fountains, shelter park. However we are having them come the day before and will be furnished shelter in our own grove with tents cots and etc. evening session also on Labor Day big basket dinner this A. E. Alonzo Edward whose father Jacob Lambert was father's and your father's cousin, has about 65 grandchildren and great g daughters and they live around here and at Wabash, Day O, Eaton, Arcanum, Peru, Roch and one brother at Delaware O. they will all be here I had the most enjoyable day at the 9th Annual Re-union of the Lamberts at Greenville near Dayton on July 19 I never saw a more jolly bunch than they. There is a Frank Lambert that was at one re-union that lives near Dayton that has quite a lot of valuable data about their ancestors, but on acc. of me being Secy that day did not get to talk with him, but have arranged to have him over here at our re-union. How I wish you and Carrie could [come by] then Mabel, Glenn's wife, was Edith (Smith) Fleming's daughter that makes Carrie and Mabel distant relations. I b[...] our own children are located round here and we will do all we can to see that you have a good time. We now have 11 grandchildren all living here and near here except Clair's and his three children in So. Dak. when he regained his health
