Dear Dan,
Thank you for the recent letter. I like the idea of a Harris memorial, either at Dayton or Westerville, for Dad and Mother.
The existing remembrance at Dayton includes the portrait and a memorial plaque at the library desk.
Let me think it over a bit. I'll talk with Ed Burtner, who just retired from the seminary faculty.
With the current financial squeeze on both public and private colleges and universities, we are being solicited for funds by Ohio State Development Fund, by the OSU School of Music, and the OSU college of Education. Add to that the Otterbein and seminary promotions, plus several other deserving arts and public appeals.
Some clippings enclosed: The review of 'Giovanni' is interesting. Woody Hayes was the honored recipient of a 'roast' this week -- lots of fun plus a telephone call from Nixon during the event, and tributes from Ford and Reagan. You'll enjoy the quotes from Fred Taylor and Dr. Carey, surgeon at OSU when someone left a sponge in Woody after an operation. Could you send the Hayes stuff to John?
I trust that all goes well wit you, and hope that the high winds didn't damage or scare you too much.
Love,
[Dick]
