Context

Plantsville, O., 4/5/96. J H Harris, Ada, Ohio. Dear Bro: - I will write a few lines today. I got your letter all right, (concerning that agency). I was not building up on that very much, although it looked all right. I was over to Athens last week, things are about as usual, prospects for work are slim. I scarcely know what way to look or what to do this summer. I must get at some kind of work for I have idled away too much time already. I have been thinking of trying for a job at book-keeping or something of that nature but can hardly get consent of my mind to act. I was out to G. K.'s last week, I think that I can get that school there for next winter. I like that country very much, think it is a fine neighborhood. They wanted me to apply for the school, but I have no certificate and am undecided as to what I shall do in life, but that would be good training, and would help me no matter what I may do but I must take the welfare of others in consideration. I think that I can do much better than some of the teachers are doing, because they leave out the most essential think in teaching. I had a good talk with C. A. he is in better shape than he has ever been, he is not converted yet but I think he is over for good now. Be sure and write to him and give him all the light you can, for he makes use of it. G. K. is in good spirits, yet he is burdened financially no doubt. But he seems glad that they made the move they did. I feel that I have been benefitted by my visit, and feel encouraged in the way of right living. Professor's offer would be quite tempting indeed, but of course you know better than I do as to what to do in life or what course to take. I suppose if you did not see any more in life than most of the people of this place, of course you would accept that position. Have you heard from Seth? Carlos has been getting letters from him he was in Sedalia Missouri. Alice is no better if you can get time write to her. Mary Wilson as it used to be, now Mary Flick, was buried here last Friday, she leaves four children and Mrs. Miller was buried one week ago last Sat. I will close for this time wishing you success in every good undertaking. L.D.H.
