Dear Pauline and Paul,
Thank you so much for your note and for your information on Dick's condition. We, and I know Dick too, surely do appreciate what you are doing for him and for being so kind to keep us informed. We are so sorry to hear of his sickness and to hear that there doesn't seem to be much that can help him get back to health.
We had hoped that if he could have had a by-pass operation that he would have been able to get along there by himself for awhile. Now, as you say, it may be best, all things considered, to move him to a nursing home, where he can have the 'round the clock care that he must need. We hope that you are successful in finding such a place where he can be comfortable.

I am sure that he has probably told you about being lifelong friends from the time we, together with Ed Burtner and John Smith, were in grade school together and how we have all kept in touch since then. This is what makes his deteriorating health seem more unacceptable to us at this time.
So, once again, thank you for letting us know about his condition and we must all hope and pray that he get better soon.
We send New Year's greetings and best wishes to you and your family and request that you keep us informed of further developments. Bless you!
Sincerely,
Irene and Glenn Grabill
