Dear Barbara,
It was my usual pleasure to talk with you on the telephone last week. However, I had to fly a four day trip before I got around to sending you this letter. It seems that I have forgotten exactly what I had promised to send you but will attempt to fulfill my obligation with my best recollection.
Please find enclosed:
Descendancy Chart for David Work, limited to six generations
Family Group Chart for David Work, Senior
Family Group Chart for David Work, Junior
Recently discovered biography of David Work by Joseph Hastings Harris
Copy of a song, "The Old Ship of Zion," as sung by William Harris, recalled by Joseph Hastings Harris.
"My Thoughts While on Picket," by George King Harris
Civil War letter home, author unknown (one page)
The Work family information lacks much detail but may provide us a skeletal frame from which we can hang some additional information. I would also mention to you that I found a letter written to Joseph H. Harris from Jennie Crew that mentioned her belief that her ancestor, Rebekah Todd, wife of William Todd, had a maiden name that was Hodyear or Hodgear. Imagining that someone's handwriting was indiscernable, I wonder
if the name could have even been Hodges? Was just wondering if you had any knowledge of this or if it brings to mind any clues since my only knowledge of William Todd and Rebekah is the copy of his will that you sent me.
Enjoy the enclosed materials and I hope to see you some time soon.
Sincerely,
Paul Joseph Harris, Jr.
