My Darling Joseph:
Your letter was rec'd Tues. morning. It was at the office Mon. evening but I did not think of you writing from Dunkirk, so did not go to the office Mon. evening.
I hardly need to say that I was glad and thankful that you had a safe journey thus far, and as I have heard nothing I trust you landed at Ada safe and sound, and hope you are enjoying school as usual.
I am enjoying school unusually well this week. Of course I feel lonely after living with such a charming being for one day, and then be compelled to utter that saddest of all words “Good-bye.” But after such an inspiration I can study with much more ease and pleasure. Ira is improving very slowly, does not seem much better than when you were here, only he eats more.
I am sorry I forgot to show you that Bible study outline, it is Steele's, I will ask Ira more about it in the morning.
Father came home yesterday. He seemed greatly surprised when I told him of my guest. Carried says it is quite nice for you to have business in Columbus. I think I was mistaken about that Y.M.C.A. Pres. conference. I think it is the Y.W.C.A. state convention, and will be held at Muskingum College.
The fair began today and we can hardly see out for the dust. I have a “trade last” for you. One of the girls here said you looked like Prof. Scott and that is what I have always thought. Praying for God's care over us, I must say
Good night.
Your true one
Bertha Lambert.
Thur. Morning — That bible outline contains a year's work prophecy included. I have joined a bible class. Our study this term will be “Work of the Holy Spirit.” I think Ira is better this morning.
