Dear friend:-- This lovely evening I take pleasure in attempting a reply to your welcome missive.
This has been a very pleasant day for me, most of it being spent in worship. I was at church and S.S. this forenoon and at Y.P.C.U. this afternoon. Our subject this evening was"Christ's Teachings," a subject surely worth a great deal of thought. The ideas of the only teacher, I presume, who always practiced what he preached. How clearly we can see Christ by studying his teachings, and on the other hand it seems to me if we had never seen his teachings but had seen the Savior himself we would have seen the teachings in his very nature. Would that our lives might be like his in this respect.
I am glad to know you had the privilege of attending conference a little while. One author says, "We area part of everyone we have met," so it is necessary that we try to meet with those whose lives are noble and honorable.
Fanny Rardin is visiting in the neighborhood. I was at Willard's and had such a pleasant visit with her last Thur. evening.
I almost felt homesick when father did not come out, but I hope to see him soon. I understand that Leonard and Seth started to Ada last Mon.
I presume you have heard of the fire at Chester Hill before this. It burned almost all the business part and left several without anything at all. The loss was estimated at $50,000.
Your folks were at church today (those who are at home). School is passing very pleasantly. It seems that the weeks almost fly. I am striving each day to fill the sphere for which God has fitted me although it be ever so humble. I have felt that God was so near tome that I could take everything to him and trust him for the results.
May God's Spirit ever go with you, guiding, protecting and comforting you in every duty and trial of life.
Your friend
Bertha E. Lambert
