Context

Plantsville O., Nov. 11, '94 Mr. J. H. Harris Belpre O. Kind friend: At the close of this another Sabbath I will spend a few moments in conversation with you but I fear it will be one-sided and dry as usual. I have just returned from Plantsville. Our Y.P.C.U. met with the League tonight. The result was a crowded house and a good meeting. Last Sun. evening the League met with us at Mt. Hermon, we had a full house and good meeting. The ill feeling against our society is gradually vanishing and people are beginning to see that it is for good and not evil. We are preparing for a thanksgiving entertainment which will be given under the auspices of the Y.P.C.U. I hope it may prove a success and be the means of doing some good. The fall term of my school closed last Fri. How rapidly time flies, I can hardly realize that another year is almost gone with its privileges, blessings, joys and sorrows. And as I look back and see the many golden opportunities that have passed by unheeded, it sometimes brings a thought of sadness, but I am thankful that I am where I am and what I am. I must confess I had looked forward to this year's work as one of monotonous toil, but instead it has been one of pleasure, thus far. The Lord has been so good to smooth every rugged path and to lead when I was willing. I have tried to cast every care on Him and trust that he will lead me in a plain path. I am striving to follow in this path as best I can, and desire to be so consecrated that I may be able to feel as you have expressed yourself in the references which you referred to. I want my will to be subject to Christ's will in all things. Harl and Eliza Lambert expect to move to W.Va. this week. No more for tonight, Your friend Bertha Lambert N.B. I enjoy reading the papers you send.
