Dear Cousin Daniel,
I was recently sitting in a motel room in Linden, New Jersey, with nothing to do. Suddenly, I realized that I was only six miles from Westfield, New Jersey, the burial place of John and Elizabeth Sayre Lambert and their two children, Jesse and John—the genealogy bug overtook me!
While difficult, it was not an insurmountable task to travel those six miles in New Jersey. I found the First Presbyterian Church and the accompanying colonial cemetery across the street. What a beautiful old setting!
The staff at the church were very helpful and allowed me to photocopy their record book and an old map of the cemetery made at the turn of the last century.
Upon visiting the gravesites, I was pleasantly surprised to find stones marking the graves. I was astonished to find them in such excellent condition! I have photographed them to the best of my ability and am enclosing copies for your document files.
I am so glad that I was able to get there and obtain these images to share with you. I wish you the best with your continued efforts.
Relatively,
Paul J. Harris
