Context

[Iberia, OH, to Mr. J. H. Harris, Ada, Ohio, Lock Box 28] 12 M. Iberia O., Aug. 27, 95. Mr. Harris Ada O. My Darling Joe: — I write a few lines to say that I arrived safe & sound about an hour ago. Mr. Oakes met me at the train last evening also accompanied me this morning. I had a very pleasant visit with them, considering where my thoughts were. As I took my last look from the car window yesterday I realized that I left the source of earthly happiness behind. Your presence was surely an inspiration to me which will make my life nobler & better. I have feared you would now work too hard in trying to make up the time which I stole from you. It was surely sweet if it was stolen. I have three lessons this P.M. & possibly more, so you will pardon this short letter. Words can not express my love for you so I close. Your own true Bertha.
