Context

12/5/89 Dear Pauline, A word of "Thanks" from one of Dick Harris' nephews! I appreciated so much your letter — it is evident to me that you had a special feeling for Dick and I want to thank you for being his friend and for carrying the burden of settling his estate. My experiences with Dick took place when I was a little boy (under 10). He was the uncle that came from far away at Christmas time and he could always fix any toy I had broken. When Dick was with us, and Dan, - the house would ring with their laughter from all the corny jokes they told. Jim, Dan, Dick; it was quite a combination always fun to be around them. My father (Jim) died when I was ten - after that we lost contact with the Harris family. To this day I cannot have Christmas without thinking of Dick. I reestablished contact with Dan in 1976 - He and I occasionally write or talk on the phone. Thank you for the list of my cousins - I am embarrassed to say I do not know them. Also we appreciated the copy of "Peace Pilgrim" - My wife has read it, now its my turn. How strange to hear the voice of my grandmother. I do not know if I ever met her, but it was eerie to hear her voice, knowing who she was. Thank you for all your help in this family business. Sincerely, Jim Messenger-Harris May you have a Blessed Christmas!
