Dear Uncle Dan,
I wish you the happiest of all of your eighty-eight birthdays. I had hoped to surprise you with a visit for the occasion, but my schedule does not permit. I will be down to see you soon. My children have expressed a desire to visit you; I hope we can accomplish that as soon as they are out of school.
I don't know what to get a man for his eighty-eighth birthday! But I do know what to give my uncle who has done so much to help me with putting together the story of our family history: some of the fruits of his and my labors.
Please find enclosed:
A complete reprint of Bertha Lambert's autobiography in its own binder, as well as an additional copy that you should use to replace the older version in your family book.
A Lambert Family Descendancy Chart to replace the old one in your family book.
A Harris Family Descendancy Chart to replace the old one in your family book.
A Family Group Record with notes for John Work Harris to replace the old one in your family book.
A Family Group Record with notes for Joseph Hastings Harris to replace the old one in your family book.
A Family Group Record with notes for Daniel Webster Lambert to replace the old one in your family book.
By comparing the old and new copies of the above documents you will discover that I have not been idle for the last year or two. I am glad that you can see what is happening to all of this information and that my interest in its preservation is sincere. I hope to see you soon!
P.S. Happy Birthday!
