Dear Dan and Cindy:
Thank you for your phone call this evening. It was great to hear from another family member, especially an unemployed airline family! Misery loves company!
I am enclosing what appears to be enough paperwork to keep you busy for a while. The photocopies of the gravestone pictures are not the best reproductions. If I get a chance to get more copies of the negatives made I will send you a set of photos. The children's stone, is not very readable in the original photograph, but I have included an accurate transcription. It is interesting that they died a day apart. I have no information on the cause, but presumably it was a disease.
The additional ream of paper contains a family group chart with notes for John Lambert and Elizabeth Sayre and one for Abner Lambert and Winifred Cartwright. I have also included a family group chart, for Robert Vernon and Deborah Stubbs. They are on another line of mine, but they came from Georgia. If you have time to check, the local Family History Center may have something on them. I would appreciate anything that turns up since I know little about their parents. There is also a nineteen-page printout of all of the descendants of John Lambert that are recorded in my PAF database. Counting the spouses, there are 1024 individual descendants listed for your reading enjoyment—have fun!
I am looking forward to receiving some information from you. It sounds like you have some great resources in that part of the country. I have yet to do any original research in North Carolina. I hope we can keep in touch and find the time to straighten out some of this history in a responsible, accurate, and well-documented way.
