Context

Hi! Happy Holiday! from Midge who is almost as big as her Mother in some ways and bigger in others. She is coming along quite well in a special class. Is a rock and roll fan. Is in love with Jimmy Dodd the Master of Ceremonies on the Mickey Mouse Club, Pat Boone and Perry Como. She is [in] her second year of Girl Scouts. Has a pet Parakeet called Perri. She still doesn't have full co-ordination, and has some visual perception difficulties, but the training she is getting along these lines is helping her tremendously. Quite a ham. Skip who is a regular "Daddy Long-Legs". All legs and arms. He is abut half-way through the fifth grade. Most interested in scientific things, and anything he can make with his hands. He big fault -- so his teacher says is that he talks too much. Takes after his Mother and Father. Not particularly interested in girls at this time. After Mother insisted that we could not keep 8 cats, got rid of all of them and started out with two white mice. Now has 8 white mice. Quite a ham. Pat who lives in California -- lucky gal, and is busy right now taking care of her son, Timothy John Farris, 7 months old, and husband, Earl. Helen who lives in New Jersey and is also busy taking care of 7 month old Nancy Jean and 33 month old Patty Ann, and husband, John. Dotty who lives in Long Island and busy with Michael, 12 1/2 and Linda, 10 1/2, and husband, Marty. Verne who lives here in Oak Park with his wife Bettie, and sons, Michael 11 and Mark 6 1/2, and hoping for a little girl next May. Verne works for Blue Shield in the day-time, and announces for the Stroh Beer shows. 2 a week plus all the local hockey games. Father Harris who tries so hard to diet and reduce some of his paunch, but with very little success. Still has most of his hair, though, so don't look too bad for an old guy of 57. Is now doing free-lance writing for Ford of Canada, Ltd and Chrysler of Canada, Ltd. We just about manage to keep the wolf from getting a toe-hold in the door. [End of Page 1] And Mother Harris who has a little middle-age spread, but don't worry too much about it. Keeps busy taking care of the children, house, 2 canaries, a tank of guppies, grand-children and neighbor's children. Lunch relief at school, Girl Scout Leader, P.T.A. and Girl Friday to Father Harris. Wish we could have a grand reunion with all of you. Guess that is impossible, but the next best thing to it is reading your cards and thinking of the good times we use to have together. All of us hope you have the happiest of holidays, and may the New Year be your brightest one. All the Harris' [End of Letter}
