Dear Pauline,
You are just wonderful to send all the information on the Daniel W. Lambert line! Thank you so very much. What an interesting family and what a shame we have not kept in better touch with on another over the years.
I have been wondering if the material you gave to Swarthmore was a two page record written in Elizabeth Stanton Lambert's own hand telling of her life up until the time she and Abner settled in Athens Co. If so, I have a copy.
Am very interested in the Quaker Index you referred to. I have used Henshaw's Quaker Genealogy and find the following records:
Red Stone M. M.
Lambert
1800,1-3 Abner and w Winneford and chd Mary, Joseph, Benjamin, Albert, Elizabeth, Abner, Daniel and Anna rocf Trent MM dtd 1799,9-7
1901,3-6 Certificates received for Abner (and family) some time ago endorsed to Westland MM
Westland Monthly Meeting
1801,3-28 Abner and w etc. rocf Trent MM dtd 1900,1-12 endorsed by Redstone 1801,3-6
Abner is listed among prominent charter members of Concord MM Ohio which was opened 1800,12-19
I believe all the groups with Borden Stanton from Trent MM had certificates dated 1800,1-12 and they were received at Redstone 1800,5-24. The record written in Elizabeth Stanton's own hand said her parents remained in Redstone Settlement from the 5th month until the 10th month when they moved into Belmont Co., Ohio.
{Abner & Winneford had cert. Sept. 1799
rec. Redstone Jan. 3, 1800
then to Westland Mar. 1801}

From these records it would seem that Abner and his family went ahead of the others but then there are discrepancies in the later dates. You mentioned that they lived some time in Winchester, Va. and that Winnifred had a stillborn child. I did not know if these events and would like to look up any records concerning them. What is the Quaker Index you spoke of? We have never been able to find when Winnifred died or who her parents were. Do you know?
Have never heard of any children of Susannah Faris Lambert by either husband.
Who was the Matthew Lambert who held the 900 slaves? The only Matthew we know of was the 2nd son of Abner and Maggie Hughes and our Bible records show he died in Feb. 1779 two months after his mother.
We have no records of the Lamberts being Quakers until after Abner married Winnifred in 1780 and the Quaker records show Abner rocq 1782, 12-11 into Core Sound M.M. I don't know if any of his brothers and sisters were Quakers or not. Have you found them in Quaker records prior to that date?
You spoke of feeling close to Ellis Selby. She and Paul are the only two of the family that I ever met except for the Elza Lamberts who used to live here in Tulsa. George and I used to take our daughters to Ft. Lauderdale in the summer and the Selbys lived nearby at Deerfield Beach. We saw them 2 different years and just loved them both. I have been corresponding with John Selby's wife, Pat, and she has been very helpful.
My father and Earl Hopkins were the same age and used to be close friends besides being cousins. Dad had lost touch with Earl for a while and only last year did we get he last address. I had written to David Ewing asking for information and he gave me Carol Fogle's (Earl's daughter) address in Columbus. I wrote to her and had a not on a Christmas card that she would send some information after the holidays. Her father had lived with her at one time while he was

having heart trouble but lately was well enough to have his own apartment. He had driven himself over to her home on Christmas day and died at the dinner table. David called me that evening just after my parents had gone back to Okmulgee. My precious sister died Dec. 19 of virus pneumonia and Christmas had been a difficult day for us. My father called and talked with Carol but we have not heard anything from her since. Her brother, Mark, lives in Columbus too. I believe David has an unlisted number. His address is 3515 Westerville Rd. 43224 and his phone is 471-3120.
Thank you again for the wonderful information you have sent. Are these extra copies or do you wish them back? the Lord was surely smiling on me the day I decided to write to you.
Affectionately,
P.S. Who was Melinda Monroe?
Carol's address is Mrs. Dick Fogle 1498 Cottonwood Dr. 43229
