Context

[These are the FGS I sent Bob Ambler. He made corrections and notes.] July 3, 1993 Louise M. Hutchinson 1661 Oak Lane Quakertown, PA 18951-1915 Dear Mrs. Hutchinson, Thank you for writing. Phillip Ray had written that he had given you my name and address. I appreciated receiving the copies of your family group record sheets. The information on your parent's children and grandchildren was new to me and I appreciate having it. There were some additional dates on prior generations that I did not have as well. I have marked additional information on your prior generation sheets and am returning them to you. I have made copies for my own reference. You will note some differences in dates for Morgan County Embrees. Family members have given different dates that sometime do not agree with gravestones or county records and sometimes it is difficult to know which ones are correct. I would like to be sure of these wherever possible. Perhaps you could give me your sources for any conflicting Morgan County dates. The Chester County Historical Society Library at West Chester has an Embree file and also some Embree records (unfiled) in their vault. I copied the file items and one item from the vault. There might be other items of interest in the vault. I would be interested in any Embree information from the New Jersey State Archives. I have researched all of the available sources in New Haven and Stamford, CT records, but have done nothing with any records at Hartford. The Embrees (various spellings) were only in CT from ca. 1643–1673 and 1707–1708 as far as I can determine and were only in Stamford after about 1650. I would appreciate anything you might find at Hartford. The name was sometimes spelled Ambrey or Ambry by clerks, or even Amsbury. I am not sure how soon I will complete the Embree history but I will be glad to add your name to my mailing list. I already have over 5,000 Embree surname descendants of the Immigrant Robert, so you can see that there must be a total of well over 10,000 descendants altogether. I am enclosing a sheet for Robert 1 and ancestor charts for charts for Samuel and Hannah Embree. I did not do the research on most of these ancestors so I do not have references to back them up. Most must come from Quaker records. Thanks again for your interest and help. Sincerely, {Bob} Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Ambler 4606 Drew Avenue North Robbinsdale, MN 55422
