Context

[Plantsville, OH, to Mrs. Bertha Harris, Box 344, Westerville, Ohio] Plantsville O. 5:20 Aug 22, '98. Darling Bertha: As I may be working tomorrow I will send a few lines. I have just written 2 cards and four letters. Wrote to Athens and to Hott and Funkhouser etc. I am happy but lonesome. Aunt Mary just came. Sam forgot to get a bill for that barrel but said he would see to it this P.M. I have received some compliments on my wife. In noticing last yrs. catalogue from Dayton I see that the Sem. opened last yr. Sep 1. Are we mistaken as to the date? Perhaps you can learn there. You are certainly weary now so I will not bother you. People seem to pity me. I am going to Plantsville in a few minutes, will ride the mule or Maud. Everything is all right. Write as soon as convenient. Don't work hard. Your Joe.
