Dear Paul,
Today is not a very good day to be writing notes (my bilateral vision is almost nil but some days better that others) but I did want to send you the enclosed 1930 OBIT. from the Sunday N. Y. Times, [which] I had seen among some old clippings among Emma Lay H's things. The paper has quite faded & torn in spots, but it did Xerox well.
Also on Sunday when I spoke to Jonathan & mentioned Georgie he too felt as I did that Georgie had died after 1938. I located my little old address book & on that back leaf read that George Galton Harris (named Galton for Francis Galton, father of Eugenics & a teacher of Karl Peerson with whom Arthur studied in London) was born Sept. 21, 1919 and died in March of 1940 — the exact date in March I do not recall.

Note also in the obituary that Arthur was awarded the coveted Weldon Award from Oxford Univ. (I recall when we were at U of Chicago that Prof. Sewall Wright, a renowned geneticist & a younger colleague of Arthur at Cold Spring Harbor — was awarded the same Weldon Award in the late 40's. We knew the Wrights & he learned that it was only the 2nd time an American was the recipient – the 1st was Arthur Harris.)
I will write Alan Treloar today – since I have a mound of a chores from house repairs – & mostly the IRS stuff to prepare for my CPA. It takes me weeks to collect & sort from there are days when I cannot work on them. Also hoping I will not get the flu that's been floating from friend to friend here.
Thank you for the call & later on will contact you - when I hear from Alan & also have time to go through some [b...] here.
Best wishes to you.
Catherine M. Harris
