Context

4517 Ft. Hamilton Pkway, Brooklyn, N.Y. Mar. 18th /31 Dear Eirene, Gloria told me you was here Saturday but she said she didn't call Margie. She was sleeping. I am sorry I wasn't home, but May gave Dotty a three months course at a dancing school down town and she hadn't gone for a long time on account of me being sick. I supposed they wouldn't give her the lessons she missed but when I got home I had a letter telling me she still had lessons in her favor so I thought she might as well finish them. I am going to move to Staten Island near Ida. Harry is borrowing me the money to move on as he did not have it to give me. He took us all up to the country so I could get well and not have to do anything. I can't seem to get rid of my cough. I guess it will take time as the doctor said I had flue. Eirene I will pay you every cent I owe you a little at a time as I am getting cheap rent and I will be able to. The way it is the expense of this house and no money coming from the rooms is too much for me. Even Sadie does not pay for Gloria so I will have to let her go again. Jean is the only one who pays. I am sorry to leave the house but I must do something so I can get my bills paid up. I will move either on the first or before. I will let you know before I go. If you want me to I will put up a sign and try to rent it if you let me know the rent you want for each floor. I hope this letter will find you Marty & the children well. Love to all Ethel [End of Letter]
