Dear Dick:
Many thanks for your letter, and for the Ohio map. Your inquiry, and Pauline's letter, have stimulated a flurry of activity here. We have opened the little trunk, which has remained closed ever since we moved down here, and have dug out a lot of Lambert and Harris genealogical material. However, we have not found the bundle of letters Pauline had asked for. We did find a couple letters addressed to Pauline and to Uncle Otterbein, from grandfather Lambert, and I sent them on to her.
Seriously, we should really do something about all this material before it goes down the drain. Is there any chance of your coming down here, where we could go through Dad's and Mother's letters to each other? Or should we burn them without looking at them? When is your next vacation? Maybe you would like to bring some of your stuff down here and we could go over it together.
Dad put a lot of time and thought into the preparation of Harris and Lambert genealogies, and they should be preserved. Where? How? I don't feel like sending the Lambert material to Pauline. After all, she is 75 now. Aletha has become fascinated by some of the letters, and is trying to sort them out. Some of them came to us from Syracuse after Jim's death. It is quite a responsibility. Can you classify the things you have? Let us have your ideas.
As far as the Herrick article is concerned, Huntington is just a few miles south of Wellington. Of course, Herrick did give the Wellington public library.
If you can postpone drawing your social security for a few years, while you are still earning, and continue to pay in in on the basis of your self-employment, it will increase your social security payments in later years.
Eugene Johnson teaches flute, and is first flute in the Miami Philharmonic. I know he has a pretty full schedule, but he knows the situation better than anyone else.
Eva bought a good used piano for our grandchildren in Greensboro, and the three older ones have just started lessons. They seem very much interested.
I have quite a few people who come in for coaching now and then. It keeps me out of mischief.
Do let us hear from you soon. Aletha sends her love with mine.
Dan
