Context

[Amesville, OH, to Miss Bertha Lambert, Iberia, Ohio, “Morrow Co.”] Amesville, O July 29, 96. Miss Lambert, Iberia, Ohio. Darling Bertha: I am at home again. Alice died this morning at 3:45, passed away very quietly although she had been suffering untold agony. Funeral will take place at Hermon tomorrow 2 P.M. I have not gotten your last letter yet, but suppose it will come all right. Federal is high it would swim a horse for several rods at Hiram Henry's so I left the horse there and footed it on to town. I came down to send word to the boys at Athens. I hope you are getting along nicely with your work. I have been anxious to hear from you and suppose there is mail at Athens for me. I am limited in time so I know you will excuse me for such a brief note. I am looking forward to a long good talk with you. Your Lover, J. H. Harris.
