Context

22 Jan 1995 Louise, Received your package and am delighted to find a fourth cousin who is a real live EMBREE researcher. I have never met one before and am looking forward to joining your "crowd" of other Embree researchers. I have not done a lot of original research on the Embree line. Most of what I have is from family records, Sylvia Olson's charts, Hinshaw, "History of Chester County," "Little Egg Harbor," etc. I am not familiar with the book by Cope and Ashmead, and would like to know more. I am certainly interested in clarifying our information and sharing sources. I have some info to fill in some of your gaps, and you certainly have some to help me. I have fairly complete information about Israel and his family on down. Up until a year ago I was using PAF to store my data. Then I imported everything into TMG, The Master Genealogist, which is a pretty sophisticated program that I really love. Only problem, right this minute, it won't generate family group charts. Version 1.2, which is due to ship any day now, will have this capability, as well as register reports with complete footnotes, etc. The program's strength is in its flexibility and the way it handles sources, which we all find out the importance of AFTER we have entered a lot of data!! <g> Anyway, what I am trying to say is that I can't send you information right now from TMG, which is my most current data. However, I don't really think I have done much on the Embree line in the last year, so I am printing FGS from my old PAD data base and sending them along to you. They are better than nothing, and I will follow up with more when the new program arrives. I am interested in resolving a number of conflicts that we have in data. I think it would be best if we tried to do that on a family by family basis, rather than all at once, after you have had a chance to look over my data. However, I would like to raise a couple of glaring questions from your sheets: 1. You show Philip Dennis Embree (40) and Virginia Woodyard (41) marrying 20 Sep 1861, seven months after their first child, Carrie Melva Embree (945), was born on 6 Feb 1861. Is this the case, or was Carrie actually born in '62 or '63? She appears to have died as an infant. I am assuming the marriage date is correct, since you indicate you have the Marriage Certificate. 2. You show James Embree (4609) being born 17, 4m, 1805. I have 01 Sep 1805 from Hinshaw, Vol. 4, Deerfield MM, p. 1055. I noticed that you have the same date as Israel's birth, with a different year. Just wonder if these got mixed up in your entry or if you have a more reliable source for James‘ birth date? I am particularly interested in your comment on James Embree (3098) and his house that is still standing in West Bradford Twp. Do you have any photographs of the structure and property? Would love to visit it sometime. I am a single parent with two teenage children at home. I work as an intermittently employed airline pilot, struggling to survive under deregulation of the airline industry. On my fourth airline job right now, with a possible forced move to North Carolina within a few months. Kinda hard to find time for genealogy, but I do! If you have a little patience with me, we can accomplish great things together! Paul 3923 Seeley Avenue Downers Grove, 60515 708-810-0967
