My Darling Joe: — Your letter just rec'd. I will steal a few moments from Prof. Guitner to talk with you. I am well and happy and enjoying my school work. John's left this morning and now my work can be more systematic. I believe I told you that Myrtle Ervin & Mr. Minshall are married and will sail to Africa Oct. 10. They are here and seem as happy as can be. We give them a reception tonight.
Another one of our girls, Miss Custer, was married last evening. We will not have a Cleio left if they keep on. But who is to blame? The men of course. I am very glad you have turned your course toward the north, and I hope you will bring your trunk, prepared to stay the year. Ira has entered school and so will be at home this year. I am afraid we will stand a poor show the way Carrie and Fred are going now (two nights in a week). And Elsie brings that little African? in once in a while. But I think we are able to stand up for our rights.
I must close now as I have a Greek lesson to prepare before noon but I am still true in heart if I am not in writing, and my prayer is that we may be kept for the Master's use.
Your true one
Bertha Lambert.
