Dear Cousin Pauline,
Thank you for your good letter and the information about your family. I found your Mt. Vernon address in a letter Grace Selby Smith wrote to my father in 1960 and I thought I would try it even though it had been a long time. Wasn't I lucky that it was forwarded to you! I am so sorry to learn that you have lost your husband. It is quite a responsibility maintaining a home by yourself - everything is so complicated these days.
Enclosed are some records prepared by your father and I have several questions concerning them which I hope you can answer.
1. Do you know where that little book is that was "brought to Ohio from North Carolina?"
2. Did your father have any documented proof that our John Lambert (born 1715) was descended from Gen. John Lambert of Cromwell's army?
3. Where in England was our John Lambert born?
4. Where did the information about the 1000 slaves come from in the news clipping?
5. Do you have a copy of your father's record of over 1000 descendants of Abner Lambert II and Elizabeth Stanton or know where I might get one?
I would love to have a copy of the material you gave to Swarthmore College - would be glad to pay for having it zeroxed if that would be feasible.
Enclosed is a family reunion picture made 1906 or '07 in front of Reece Lambert's house and a numbered chart to help identify those in the picture. My father moved to Okla. about the time the picture was made

so cannot remember as many as he would like to. You are welcome to the picture if you would like to have it but I would very much appreciate having you send me the names and numbers of all you can identify. I have enclosed a list of those we know - those in pencil are ones I am not sure about. You would have been only 5 or 6 at the time but thought you would know members if Daniel Webster Lambert's family from other contacts or from pictures.
If you could give me a name and address for someone in each branch of Daniel W.'s family to whom I might write for information I would be most grateful. I would also appreciate any suggestions you might have for organizing this material. We have a great amount of material on Reece Lambert's line and some on each of Abner and Elizabeth's children except Ellwood and Chalkley. Since you have worked on the family history yourself you probably have some very helpful ideas. I shall look forward to hearing from you again.
Very sincerely,
P.S. Have enclosed a brief chart of our line which I thought might interest you.
