Mr. J. H. Harris,
Athens, O.
My Darling Joe: — This morning amid the bustle and hurry of commencement I grasp a few moments to talk with you.
I rec'd your letter Sat. evening, and was very glad to hear from you. I almost felt like I was in another world after you left. It was so lonely I hardly know what to do. One great blessing is that I have had plenty to do, so much that I could scarcely find time to write. Fri. evening when we came home from society we found Johns here, Sat. evening Miss Mayne and Miss Michael came from Dayton. If you were here I think you would have to hang up on a nail. However, if we are crowded, we are enjoying a happy time. All the commencement exercises are passing of nicely. We are having a great deal of rain & mud which makes it bad for the nice dresses.
I think a little of going to Iberia again and get up a small, (junior) class and canvass the towns near there. I wish you might have been here for the rest of comm., but I was so glad you were here when you were.
I hope you are enjoying your work and succeeding as usual. Sun. afternoon we listened to an interesting talk from Mr. Burtner, one of our returned missionaries. John & Lucy are very glad to be remembered by you and send their kindest regards. I am sorry I did not get to write sooner, but it was almost impossible.
I will write no more this time.
I am still Your true one
Bertha Lambert.
