Context

[Athens, OH to Miss Bertha Lambert, Plantsville, OH, "Morgan Co"] Box 83 Athens, O. Sept. 5, 1894. Miss Lambert, Please allow me this opportunity of conversing with you through the medium of the pen. This evening finds me enjoying life fully as well as could be expected after a day devoted to brick and mort. You perhaps may have expected to hear from Ada, but we have more work than was expected. At present we are aiding the cause of Catholicism by helping to build a new church. I think we can finish all work on hand now in about two wks. when unless more work opens up school shall take my attention, but before going I shall try to come out on the ridge, and if agreeable and convenient to you would be pleased to call on you, but cannot give any certain date. Perhaps it might be well to bring some peanuts and candy. I rec'd a letter from Ira in which he gave me an invitation to stay with him this winter. Space will not permit saying what comes to mind on this subject, so I refrain from speaking further.   I trust the time goes pleasantly with you and that each day with its opportunities and responsibilities may develop seeds sown by your hand, consecrated to the cause which I believe has always been uppermost in your life and mind. I shall be pleased to hear from you at your earliest convenience and if called to some other work will inform you of the change. Hoping this may find you the recipient of God's mercies and thanking you for this opportunity  I close by referencing you to II Jno. 1:12; III Jno. 1:13–14. Your friend, J. H. Harris
