Dear Children
This beautiful morning finds us feeling fairly well. Father has some cold in his throat, the wet cool weather we’ve been having I think is the cause of it, he has ben [sic] gaining right along since you were here & has had a good appetite which caused him to gain several lbs. in weight.
We felt that it was a nice thing in several ways that you still remain at Columbus. The school & the trouble of moving and so on. Hope you are all real well & the children are settled in their school work. We miss the a ling a ling & James [?] going to eat all the meats [?].
Bertha I am glad youv [sic] had a good visit with so many of your people if Ira & Alva came too—& hope your mother is still improving & will be spared quite a while yet to all of you.
Had intended to of answered Alfreds letter but did not get at it yet.
We haven’t had any talk with Howards yet just a few minutes at church. They went to Armstrongs after services. The people are well as usual in the neighborhood. Hattie was over yesterday. First since you was here. She is much better. We’ve not heard from Alice Selby since Sunday—don’t know whether she is still living yet or not. Bertha & Mrs. Burfield are there. Did Ida go to Eva’s or has she gone to N.Y. yet? If not ask her to pleas [sic] give father Nellie’s home address as he wants to write her after while. We did wish Ida could of planed [sic] to stayed [sic] longer with us. We still have a few roasting ears yet & little calf too.
Joe, Sara North was here & brought grandfather Harris old family Bible. Wish you could see it but will send it to here again. Lenora is with us now & she coppyed [sic] the record just as it is in the book you find enclosed with this. Well as I cant read what I ve written will stop off now. Hope to hear from some of you when its convinent [sic].
