Context

[If not called for return to Box 344, Westerville, OH, to Mr. J. H. Harris, Plantsville, Ohio, Morgan Co.] Westerville O., Dec. 23, '95. Mr. J. H. Harris Plantsville O. My Dear Joe: — Your letter was rec'd this afternoon. I was glad to hear that you got through all right, and hope you are now enjoying a pleasant visit with your folks. I can imagine you felt a little strange to be back at Mt. Hermon, but you are more accustomed to such changes than I. Father came home today and we expect Alva's tomorrow and Otterbein the next day, and best of all you on Sat. I hardly knew what to do with myself after you left, I went around like a lost sheep. Tomorrow evening we have our Christmas entertainment at the chapel and a sunrise prayer-meeting at the Pres. church Xmas morning. I hear that you preached a wonderful sermon at Mt. Hermon yesterday, nor did I dream it. It came straight through from Sharpsburg. I wish you might be here next Thur. we expect to kill the “fatted calf.” Yesterday I attended S.S., church, the volunteer band, C.E. and a Xmas service and I think I ought to be good if going to church has any effect. I hope you may enjoy a pleasant visit, and I think you can enter school feeling that your time has not been lost. Praying for God's blessing upon us. I am ever Your Sweetheart, Bertha Lambert.
