Context

[Westerville, OH, to Mr. J. H. Harris, Plantsville, Ohio; Enclosure: A curl of her hair in orange tissue paper.] Westerville, O. July 14, '97. Mr. J. H. Harris Athens, O. My Darling Joe: — Here I am at my own dear home once more. We left Lake Geneva yesterday morning, came to Chicago and spent the day looking around in the city. I left Chicago last evening at 7 and got home today about 10:30 A.M. I am feeling well, but am quite tired. Home seems so nice after being away, although there is a certain strangeness about it after living in a tent. The folks are well here and were somewhat surprised to see me today. I surely have never spent such a two weeks as the last two. I can not see how my life could be otherwise than better for the past experience. I have so much to tell you but will leave it until a better opportunity. How is that finger? Hope it is much better. When are you coming to Westerville? I am too sleepy and tired to write very much this time, so I will close hoping to see your dear face soon. You spoke of being tanned. You can not be much worse than I am. Your own true one Bertha Lambert.
