Dear Aunt Bertha:
You and Uncle Joe wrote such wonderful letters. I am glad that father had the chance to know Uncle Joe a little bit. We were so glad to have news of you and your boys. Mother remembers “The Singer” for once in a while when he was in New York he came to see them at the apartment. We have followed his career with a great deal of interest. If any of your boys should want to do graduate work at our University of Minnesota at any time, we would be so happy to have him with us. The tuition for out-of-state students is much “higher” but his living would not cost him anything with us so it might balance out. There are many interesting men on the faculty and a fine school of music.
We are so glad that Richard is strong enough to be doing university work. You must have had an anxious time. Richard and Arthur must be about the same age (Art was born July 21, 1911).
I do hope that somehow you will have a “mission” up in the northwest so that you can come to us.
Gratefully yours,
Emma Lay Harris
