Dear Dick,
The above is a GG-1 electric locomotive used to haul the heavy passenger trains up and down the NE Corridor for many years. The old PRR never got around (or needed) to designing a GG-2, which leaves me the only GG-2 in existence, ha!
It was good to hear from you again and the memories you stirred up are still vivid in my memory too. Do you remember when Eugene Goosens was conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony and we wrote him a letter of welcome on one of his Columbus visits on behalf of the Columbus Railroad Club? That sparked a brief correspondence with him about his rail fan activities which included a cab ride in a Big Four J-1, 4-6-4 between Cincinnati and

Cleveland which he commented on in quite some detail. I still have the letters somewhere along with a poster picture of him with his autograph that Roger Moore and I got one time when we attended a concert in Cincinnati and went back stage to talk to him during intermission. He had left two tickets for us at the box office when he found out that we would be there. What a thrill! I think I was practically speechless, ha.
Sorry to hear about your health problems, but hope they are stabilized now so that you are able to enjoy life again. We both have our troubles too but they aren't nearly as bad as the time we have with Medicare trying to get the bills paid! Suppose you too have fun figuring out what they are trying to tell us.
Glad to hear of all the Columbus musical activities and of the talk of fixing up the Kimball organ at the 1st Congregational Church, and I do remember Dorothy Stevens Humphries too,

as well as Agnes Wright and Eldon Howells. Boy do you know how to jog a guy's memory! And I see you are still pursuing your "punning activities." Where do you get those... non from Readers Digest I hope!
But, back to current events. I have completed a year and half at Conrail and 10 years in, in January, with DeLeuw, Cather & Company since they yanked me out of Lancaster in 1978. Don't know how much longer this assignment might last but the Conrail contract expires on April 30th unless they decide to renew it again. We made a trip back to Ohio last October and were in Zanesville and Lancaster (never did make it to Columbus) and while there spent a little time looking at housing possibilities should we be laid off here and want to move back. What we saw in Zanesville we didn't like, but we did check out a new retirement home on the west side of Lancaster which did not

require an up-front cash payment. But after looking through the place (guided tour, ha) decided it was not for us even tho the rent included one meal per day. We did see a one-floor condo out off Route 22 west of town built like a duplex with two units connected at the one car garages that we liked the looks of, but didn't have time to go to the office for a guided tour. We did write to the builder after getting back and got a nice brochure complete with floor plan and a pep talk from them. Maybe we'll be able to come back later this spring and see what it's like inside.
Had a note from Dr. John Smith and he said he had a letter from you too. We can only hope that you are "inspired" to write again and tell us more about your activities (are you still teaching?) and things about Columbus. Thanks for telling us about Dan in Miami. At one time I nearly called Mary to have her contact Dan to find out about you, but you must have gotten my mental message to write, ha.
So, have fun, enjoy life and keep in touch. We send best wishes.
