Dear Richard —
It may sound like I am a bit touched but this is actually your Christmas greeting! Yes — on 12/12/81 we sent out our greeting to you — and sometime later it was back in our mail box — and all because I left one number off of your address. So I wrote Bob Knight for the correction and so on Valentine Day we try again.
We did nothing special at Christmas — had the noon meal at a cousins — just north of Medina. Our choir sang 2 times Christmas eve — so we were at the church from 6:15 to 10. So were ready to sleep in a bit Christmas. My son is at Seattle so did not come home.
Hope you have had a good year in '81 and are ready for a good '82.
Our year's highlight was our visit to Sierra Leone, N Africa. We were invited out for the grand opening and dedication of the first YMCA building in the country. We had been out there in '73–'74 volunteer with the "Y" so this was a revisit. We cut the ribbon and unveiled a plaque and brot greetings from the American YMCA. Saw friends we had worked with before so it was a great time.
We did some work with the Conference Office of the U.M. Church — mostly interpretive writing to tell the story of the work of missions of the U.M. Church.
The coming of October out there is the beginning of the hot season — each day was hotter so we cut short our visit and headed for cooler weather. In fact two days after we arrived home, it was 26° F here.
Did I tell you Ralph Roehm is now in Columbus. He and Jean are at First Community Village — 1800 Riverside Dr. From what I hear they are as busy as before retirement.
Today we had dedication of new robes for our choir — pale green and gold. (The robes — not the choir)

We had used the maroon robes 20 some years. We have enjoyed our choir — we have a good director — retired school man.
We hear from Bob Horrocks once in a while. Has a apple farm over by Ashtabula. His wife just retired last spring from school counselor job in a junior high there.
Hope you are in good health. If you should be coming this way — Akron, Cleveland etc would be glad to have a visit from you. We are just 4 miles west of I-71 — exit at Rt #18.
Best to you —
Waldo and Mary
