My Darling Joe: — I will write a little as I know you are anxious for a letter. I could not get to write Sat. before the mail was gone and yesterday I did not write because my eyes were not feeling well. They are better today and I think of trying school. I do not know how they will stand it but it will be all right whether they do or not for I believe that is God's part of the work. Carrie and I put out a monstrous washing this forenoon and want to iron this P.M. Ira is just flying around getting ready to start to Massilon at 4 P.M. this evening.
The students are beginning to come back and it reminds us that school will soon be here. I am hoping and praying that you may be able to enter school and that my eyes may be well enough for study. Mrs. Adams and Lora were out yesterday; they are very anxious to have you in their house. Lora asked if they might call you “Cousin Joe” as it was so hard to say Mr. Harris. I expect to take my S.S. Class on a picnic next Sat. and want you to go along if you are in town. It seems to me I never saw work crowding in like it is now. These days remind me of one week ago, what a happy time that was. I think we know how to appreciate such opportunities now.
I want to send this on the 2 P.M. train so will not wait to write more.
Pray for me, and may God lead us in the right way, especially in our school work.
Your own true Sweetheart,
Bertha E. Lambert.
