Context

Jan. 19 1974 Dear Jeanne, Sorry I have been so long answering your note. Your mother was born in Berne Township, Athens County. We lived in the first house east of the Mt. Hermon church where you went to the home coming. Dad owned the land surrounding the church. Ione and I went to Aunt Lucy Huffman's when she was born. I was born at grand father's home. Grandmother Harris died in August. My father and mother were married Sept. 20 1887 to help grandfather take care of uncles Joe, Carlos, Leonard, Howard, and Seth. Some job for mother. Ione was born in Plantsville where the folks lived for a short time. Harry and Helen were born where your mother was. Glen is now in a home for senior citizens. They take outsiders to care for them temporarily. He came from the hospital last Sunday. We had his bed in the dining room because he was not to do stairs. He was so much weaker than when he went in the hospital. On Tuesday night he fell in the bath room and we had to call an ambulance to take him to emergency. He was not seriously hurt. He was home by 2 a.m. I was with him in the Niagara chair the rest of the night. The next day he was admitted to the Manor. Bill found him better yesterday. I am sorry I am not able to take care of him. I got very worn out in the three days he was home. I'll try to write oftener. Love, Cassie
