Dear cousin Bette:
Your letter got to me by way of Mt Vernon, Ill. However I have been away from Mt Vernon for almost 12 years. Why it was forwarded to me after all these years is a mystery. I still have a few friends there and they may have helped. We only lived in Mt Vernon for 2 years but I was a very active member of the community there. This is home now since we have lived in the Pittsburgh area longer than in any other area during our married lives. You spoke of my children. I have but one - William Theodore Warfel living in Big Bend, Wis (New addition near there). He was born in Muncie Ind. in 1932. My husband, Richard Myers Warfel, to whom I was married almost 40 years died June 10, 1970. I was married in 1930 in Muncie, Ind. Lookey, in this letter I can tell you nothing about the family history tho I did research concerning it in the Penna Historical Soc. in Philadelphia and gave copies of Eliz Stanton Lambert's travels in Ohio to the Swarthmore College Genealogical Library when we lived in Morton (3 miles from Swarthmore) for 6 1/2 years. That was because they have 2 genealogies

of the Stanton family. Eliz and Abner b. 1798 and 1790 were my great grandparents. Swarthmore is a Friends College - founded by the Hicksite Quakers and so are Bryn Mawr and Haverford founded by the Orthodox Quakers (one a girls school and one a boys school).
I own the house we bought after coming back to Allegheny Co. from Ill. Lately appealing for a cut back of property assessments seems to be what concerns people of Bethel Park. I was up at the Municipal bldg. yesterday trying to get some relief. I suppose those problems concern you also.
I am one of 3 children of William Otterbein Lambert (1st cousin to Oscar Lambert) and Loretta Adams Lambert. I was b. July 25, 1901. My sister Lucile was b. May 23, 1903 and her name is Lucile Lambert Webner (wife of Leroy B. Webner) and they live in Orville, O. My brother is Charles Otterbein Lambert and his wife is Bernice Jackson Lambert. The live in the country near Cincinnati Ohio (Batavia R.D. #3). He was bor Feb 22, 1905.
My son married a Southern girl Estella Louna Carter from Birmingham Ala. They have 2 little boys Richard Carter Warfel (aged 5) and Stephen Lee Warfel (aged 3). Estella is 10 years younger that my son Bill.
Later I can fill in the details of what I know about the family.
This is the Pittsburgh area.
[Sidebar] Maybe Ernest knew Horace Mayne (Hannah Lambert Mayne's oldest son). He died last week. He gave Mayne Hall to Otterbein College.
