Context

[Westerville, OH, to Mr. J. H. Harris, Ada, Ohio] Westerville O., Nov. 24, '95. Mr. J. H. Harris, Ada O. Darling Joe: — This has been a dark and rainy day, nevertheless a happy one to me. Indeed I do not know when I have enjoyed a day as I have this one, last evening we had such a good bible-class and I am still enjoying the inspiration of it. I rec'd your letter before it was expected but it was just as welcome. The week passed as usual in study, society work & etc. The day has seemed longer and quieter than usual as we did have our accustomed caller. So I have enjoyed a day of reading and study and sociability with the dear ones of the home. We always have a great deal to talk about on Sun. for we are so busy we hardly have time to enter into conversation as much as we would enjoy. And yet there is one I would enjoy being with even more than with the dear ones of my home, and I trust I shall enjoy that privilege before long. I have nothing planned for holidays, but a good visit with you and a good time in general. We may have some other company but that will not interfere in the least with your visit. We were alarmed twice yesterday by the fire-bell but the fire company succeeded in getting both put out. Since I quit writing I have been to C.E. and church, both were good services. We had the pleasure of coming home in the rain, but a student was so very kind as to lend us his umbrella when we had carelessly left ours. I was sorry to learn about our prospective student from Ada, I have been telling Carrie about him, but I hardly think she will be much disappointed. Our public session in society will be Dec. 5. Thanksgiving services will be held in the Pres. church next Thur. I would enjoy helping eat that fine dinner with you next Thur. or rather being with you more than the eating of the dinner. I presume that will be one of my busiest days at home. You need not think for a moment that D. I. will be off on a visit during holidays, — my prophecy turned out just right in regard to him. When does school close at Ada? If you try to build any stacks be very careful of my Joe. Good-night, and may the Holy Spirit guide us in all we do and prepare us for some useful work in life. Lovingly Bertha Lambert.
