Dear George and Bette,
Forgive me for taking so long to get back to you. I bow out with the excuse that the holidays were very hectic for me! I sincerely hope this letter finds George doing well. I very much enjoyed meeting with you at Thanksgiving time and hope we can get together again soon. Doris Braley of Minneapolis has indicated she would like to get together with you later this month or the first of February. Perhaps I could sneak down to join you at that time. Doris is a delightful person. I enjoyed meeting her at her family reunion in Lancaster, Wisconsin, this last summer.
There is so much I would like to go over with you, but it is best if we start with something clear and simple. I believe I mentioned the enclosed letter to you when I was in Naples. I am sending a copy of it in hopes that you may have some information about the author. Abner Monroe calls Daniel Webster Lambert cousin. If this is so, one of Daniel's (and Reece's) aunts may have married a Monroe. I am not aware of this at this time. In the 1860 Census there was an Abner Monroe, age 16, enumerated with Daniel Webster Lambert as a farm hand. I'm not sure if he is a first cousin or a first cousin, one generation removed. If you find anything in your records concerning Abner or any Monroes, I would appreciate your letting me know. If all else fails, I may be able to get some family information from his military records in the National Archives as his unit is listed in the letter. I just thought I would check with you first.
I am enclosing some partially filled Family Group Charts for your family. If you would like me to enter complete information in the computer database, I would be delighted to do so. If you will supply me with the additional information, I will enter it and reprint the charts for you so you have a nice permanent record.
Look forward to seeing you again soon. Hope that Florida weather isn't too tough on you. It's zero degrees here right now.
Sincerely,
