Dear Paul:
I was very glad to hear from you and glad to get more information on the Harris family. Vance and I started working on the Harris family history in 1981 until he passed away. Since then I have done very little on this but since I have heard from you it gives me a reason to get started again. We traveled to the states of Maine, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts trying to find where Richard Harris came from. This ws the only lead we could find:
(from a book)
MASSACHUSETTS
Essex County Marblehead
Richard Harris christened July 13, 1777
f, Richard
m, Lucy
Since he was born on June 6, 1777 this could be him but we could find no proof.
I would like a copy of the manuscript by Watson Harris. I would also like a copy of the information on William, brother of John Work Harris. I have over 350 pages on the Harris family and newspaper clippings, pictures, etc. I have found them in Morgan, Athens, Meigs, Vinton Counties in Ohio.
Can you give me any information on Charles W. Harris, son of Watson Harris? I have some information but I do not know if he had and children and when and where he died. He was married at his sister, Theodate's home, I have the newspaper clipping.
I can give you information on most everyone listed on the Descendancy Chart of Richard Harris.
There are no family reunions in the area today. I guess we have a family reunion by ourselves since my sons have been coming home every 4th of July since getting married and having families of their own. There are not many relatives since Vance had three male cousins that never married.
Let me know when you are coming to Athens. I would like to get together with you. I have one son here in Athens so maybe you can meet him also. All my sons are over six feet tall, 6'5", 6'4", and 6'2". I hope to hear from you soon.
Looking forward to meeting you,
{Barbara}
